My word for 2013 is Focus.
Focus on my relationship with Christ, Focus on My Family
& Focus on Our Home.
Through out the past years I have over committed to so many different people, charities and projects that I am so busy that I am not able to really Focus on anything, there for not ever getting anything done. Well, not this year...This year I am saying "No" more often and Focusing on what is really important to me.
My plan for the year is to Focus on my time with Christ. To do this I am diving deep into a book that many people have raved about for helping them strengthen their relationship with Christ and that is Jesus Calling, by Sarah Young. I can't tell you the last time, I stopped to actually listen to what the Lord has to said to me. Why is that? That's because I have let my Focus drop. Well not anymore.
I will also be Focusing on my Family. I mean really taking the time to be present when I am with my Husband and our daughters. So many times, my head is racing ahead of me when I am with my family, worrying about work, what someone thinks of me, worrying about things coming up in the next few days or weeks. Anyway you look at it, I am preoccupied. This tells me I need to Focus.
I will Focus on making our House a Home. Our Home is modest, but I want it to be a warm place where my family can find refuge from the outside world. I can't control what goes on in the outside world, but in my Home, I can turn the Focus to what is really important and that is our life together. So many times, I get consumed by wishing my house was perfect. I would make list after list of things that we needed to do, but then I would place my focus elsewhere, and forget about the list. This year it's time to focus on our house and give it some Tender Loving Care. The lists have been made and it's time to Focus and add the action. The biggest project will be our kitchen. We won't be gutting it or anything, just giving it a small face lift. Other Home projects include a lot of painting and the addition on new fabrics (have I mentioned my love for fabric, it can totally change the look and feel of your house with out a lot of money).
So this is my year, my year to Focus.
Have you thought of your word for 2013? I would love to hear it.
Warmly,
Rachel
