Last week, I posted a quote that I have recently taken to
heart. It was about going back to a simpler way of Life and I have decided to
make a conscious effort to do that. So many times, I get caught up in things
that I honestly don’t have the time for, but the word “No” disappears from my vocabulary.
Well, not any more.
I believe that in order to go back to a simpler Life, I need
to take stock of what matters the most… my relationship with God and my family.
Unfortunately, these have both suffered over the year,s by me getting caught up
in other commitments and while those other commitments are good, they aren’t as
important as my relationship with Christ and the relationships with my husband
and daughters.
In order to slow myself down, I need to go back to the
basics if you will, and what a better place to start then God’s User Manual, the
Bible. For the next 30 days, I will dive deep into scripture and focus on
listening to what my Heavenly Father has to say. It might not be pretty, because
I know I fall short, but it will be honest. Focusing on my relationship with
God will help strengthen the other relationships that mean so much!
Because I require structure in my life, I will be reading an
oldie, but a goody… The Purpose Driven Life, by Rick Warren. I have
completed the book twice before, but always learn something new and am reminded
of things I should have never lost sight of. Today’s post will be the longest,
since we’re laying ground work. Let’s begin, shall we?
Day 1 {It All Starts with God}
There was a great quote in today’s reading which really resonated
with me.
I was made by God and for God. I was not made for myself,
for my husband or even for my children, but for God! I was made for God’s
purpose, not to use him for my own purpose. “It is about becoming what God
created you to be”.
So what is my purpose? We shall see, but for now…I will
remember, “Everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him.”
