Farmhouse Kitchen

This past week my husband and I met with a good friend who is helping us with our floor plan. We are getting closer to having a final draft, but there are a few kinks that we are working out and one of those is the Kitchen.

I love to cook and entertain, so I want to make sure we get this room perfect. In order to get an idea of whether or not our current floor plan works, we headed to IKEA to get a better understanding of what I want in a Kitchen and the trip was extremely helpful.

The moment my husband and I saw it we both knew it was perfect. We loved everything about it: the color, the cabinets, the island, the cook top and the lighting. I've always known that I wanted gray cabinetry with white subway tile and stainless steel appliances and this Kitchen has it all.

I took several pictures that day, but unfortunately they didn't turn out very well do to lighting. I was able to find some similar pictures on IKEA's website.

In the demo Kitchen at the store they used different lighting over the island and I liked this other option much better. So much that we went ahead and picked two of these lamps up.

Another thing that I loved about this kitchen is how well it will go with some European fabric I bought several years back after seeing Sarah Richardson use it in her farmhouse.

Isn't it gorgeous? Now if only we were ready to start building.

As we get the floor plan finalized I'll make sure and post it here, so stay tuned.

Wedge Booties

Lately, I've been obsessed with wedge booties. I have stalked them on Pinterest and saved a couple of my favorite outfits.

I went back and forth as to whether or not to purchase a set of Toms Wedge Booties or a knock off. After deliberating for a little while and the limited sizes of the Toms, I went with the knock off. I was actually able to get two pairs for the price of one Toms.

Disclaimer- Please don't get me wrong, I love Toms shoes and what Blake has done for people all around the globe. Had I made the decision to purchase Wedge Booties this past Fall, I defiantly would have gone the Toms route. It's just to late in the winter season and they don't have my size in designs that I really liked.

What's for Dinner this week...

Hey Y'all! I know it's been a while since I've done a Meals on Monday, but here we go.

So, I'm still on my weight loss journey. I am now down 6 pounds which is pretty good. I still can't tell a difference yet, but I'm going to keep on keepin' on.

One thing that I am vowing to do is eat at home this week and I've pulled some amazing recipes to ensure that we don't go through the drive thru. Here's what's on the menu this week.

Monday

My husband loves this pizza. When I brought it up last week you could see his mouth starting to water. The best part is that with some minimal prep the day before this goes together quickly.

Tuesday

Crockpot meals are one of my favorite go to's to ensure we don't eat out. In order to access the rest of this week's recipes you will need to have a subscription to Dashing Dish. I highly recommend it and it's extremely affordable. Kate and her team have recently updated the Menu Planning Calendar and now it's even better.

Quick and Easy meals are also important when trying to eat at home.

Friday

We are actually going out to watch a movie with a friend, but this meal will keep us on track.

Saturday

I have a couple friends coming over for a cooking day for one of the companies that I handle the marketing for. We are creating six new recipes, so there will be a small buffet for dinner. Oh, did I mention it's all-natural Black Angus. Now my mouth is watering.

Sunday

We will more than likely be leftovers and then I'll head back to the grocery store for next week.

I hope you all have an awesome week!

Our New Baby Goats

The day after Christmas we received a wonderful surprise our goat Coco had a set of twin girls. It was an extremely cold and rainy day and we were lucky because we had just moved Coco into the barn that morning. We were so thankful because the babies were born in a nice warm area and out of the elements.

Our girls couldn't have been more excited with the sweet babies. Coco is a kiko goat and the father is a boer goat.  We plan on entering the new goats this year in the county fair, but for now we will just enjoy watching them grow.

We named the goats Clarice and Hollly. Aren't they adorable?

Holly and Sophia

Sophia's wether goat Kermit is a very proud uncle. Coco and her babies were kept separate from the rest of the heard during their birth, but Kermit manged to sneak in with us shortly after the babies were born. Kermit is seriously the sweetest animal ever!

Needless to say, we are loving these sweet little ones and we can't wait to watch them continue to grow. This is one of our favorite parts of the Farm.

Weight loss goals

The other day I shared with you some of the things that I purpose for 2016. Like most people I would like to get healthier this year and because of that I am looking at making changes in my daily habits. I'm not going to lie, I know that change can be hard and so I'm planning on equipping myself with some new tools.

I am a soda junkie. I'm sorry to say most days that's all I drink. Of course one of the major pillars of successful weight loss is drinking water. I saw this bottle on Etsy and I thought it would be perfect to help me track my water in take.

Another tool that I think will be helpful is a journal. I can keep track of my food, thoughts for the day and also log my exercise. Isn't the quote perfect! "Today sounds much better than someday". I just might make this my motto.

And since new habits are built by doing something daily, here is a great list of 9 Healthy Habits from All You magazine.

I've set a goal for myself which is to loss 10 pounds in the next 12 weeks. I'll be sharing my progress here so make sure to check back often.
