Favorite Pin Friday- Neutral Living Room

Happy Friday! Today I want to start out with a confession, I am notorious for wanting to redecorate my living room on a regular basis and to be honest, I just got tried of it. Part of the problem was the fact that none of our furniture was cohesive and that made me very restless. We had a green and ivory plaid chenille sofa, a bright turquoise coffee table and mismatched artwork. It was a hot mess to say the least.  I was overwhelmed and needed a clean slate.

I have been inspired by a few of my favorite instagram accounts to make a transition to a more neutral color palette in my home. So I did what all people who want to be inspired do...I headed to Pinterest.

Here are the photos I chose for inspiration.

This first one is from one of my favorite Instragram accounts, In All These Things. Lissa actually blogs over at Keep It Simple, Keep It Fresh.

This photo has so many elements that I love, the mixture of neutral pillows, the warm white wall color and the wooden coffee table.

These next two examples are some that I found on Pinterest.

I love the textures in the is photo, especially the fur throw. How cozy is that!

I have often thought of my style of decorating as Modern Country and I think this is a great example of it.

After I had gathered these inspiration photos I started shopping. We purchased a new sofa in a beautiful neutral truffle color, a wood and metal coffee table and new drapes. I'll post some pictures of the progress we have made so far, but we still have a little wise to go.

I'd love to hear any feedback you might have, so please leave a comment below.

Favorite Pins Friday- Mother's Day Gifts

Happy Friday! Today I wanted to share some affordable Mother's Day Gift ideas with you. This weekend I am heading up to the City with a friend of mine for a little Girls Day Out and Mother's Day presents are defiantly on my list. Here are a few great suggestions.

One store any mom would love a gift from would be Anthropologie. Here are a few go to gifts that would be perfect for any special mom.

These candles smell heavenly and the glass jars are beautiful.

What mom doesn't love to be pampered? I have heard that this soap is the best out there. Good soap is something that we all enjoy, but we rarely splurge on.

Another item that no woman would ever turn down is jewelry. I don't know if you have ever looked at the jewelry section at World Market, but they have some beautiful pieces.

The last gift that I wanted to share with you is a journal, also from World Market.

I'm sure any mom would enjoy these gifts and after all it's really is the thought that counts, but a good present never hurts.

Happy early Mother's Day!

Favorite Pins Friday- Affordable Skin Care

Hi Everyone! Today I want to share a few of my favorite skin care items. I recently came across this brand on Instagram and picked it up at Target this past weekend. I really like how clean it makes my face and it only has two steps.

When I find a product I really like, I make sure and "Pin" it so I can always remember it. So with out further ado here are the products.

Once of my biggest problems with skin care products can be the smell, but these do not have a strong odor. Another great thing about these products is their price point. The cleanser is about $9 and the creams are basically $14 each.

If you are in the market for a new skin care, I would highly recommend these.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Favorite Pins Friday

Hey Y'all! I am thankful that it is finally Friday. All week long, I have been one day ahead which can make for a very long week! Tonight I am hosting my first Mary & Martha Gathering. If you haven't heard about the company, you should defiantly check them out. They are owned by DaySpring and are a Christian based Home Decor company.

Since I am hosting a party tonight, I thought I would show you the products on my wishlist. I have pinned several of these to my Gifts board, because they would make wonderful gifts.

So, let's get started...

Their products are beautiful and affordable. I also love their companies message about opening up your home and no longer worrying about being perfect, but rather being present when you have guests.

If you are interested in any of these products and would like to learn more, please leave a comment below.

I hope you all have a blessed weekend!

Favorite Pins Friday- Easter Edition

With a little more then a week away from Easter, I thought it was about time to share my Favorite Easter Pins.

One of the the easiest ways to switch out decor for a specific holiday is with a printable. Here is one of my favorites.

Several of my favorite childhood memories include baking with my mother during the different holidays. This is a tradition that I have carried on with my daughters. They love making any kind of bark and this one looks delicious.

We also make these cookies each year and I read the Easter Story as we make them. I would highly recommend working this recipe into your Easter tradition.

The last pin that I wanted to share with you is our favorite Easter Ham recipe. This Ham does not disappoint.

If you have any Easter traditions that you would like to share with me, I would love to hear them. Please leave a comment below.

Favorite Pins Friday

Hey Y'all! TGIF.

As I had mentioned earlier this week, my husband and I have finally settled on a floor plan for our future farmhouse. It's a simple plan, but one that I think will suite our family well.

Now that we have a floor plan, I am starting to dream of all the rooms and what they will look like. For me the heart of any home is the kitchen. Growing up a lot of my fondest childhood memories took place in the kitchen. Whether it was making cookies with my mom, or dying Easter Eggs, or helping my grandma can homemade grape jelly. So many wonderful times were spent in kitchen.

Since our floor plan has a very open kitchen, dining room and living room, I want to make sure that the designs of those room work well together. One night as I was scrolling through Pinterest, I remembered my favorite episode of Season 2 of Fixer Upper was the "Dutch Door" episode. Here are a few of my favorite pins from this episode.

This portion of the "Dutch House" is similar to our floor plan in the fact that the dining room table is right in front of the kitchen. These two areas flow very well and have a seamless transition.

I absolutely adore the beauty of the wooden beams and the crisp white of the kitchen, along with the classic black soap stone counter tops.  This kitchen is timeless and could easily be accented with any other color.

I also love the white subway back splash with black grout. I had always thought that white grout was a best choice for white subway tile, but the black just makes the tile pop!

I also love the stainless steel appliances and range hood.

This view of the kitchen give you a different vantage point of the rest of the open concept floor plan. Similar to our floor plan, you can see the dining room and living room from the kitchen. I love the wall color that Joanna used and the classic white trim details.

Here is a better view of the dining room. I love the French doors and wish that we could incorporate them into our design, but these would be large windows in our home.

The Living Room is also very timeless and classic. I love the neutral color of the floors and furniture. My design taste tends to change quickly. I really enjoy decorating and updating home accents with the seasons. The neutral background would give me the flexibility to do that.

I loved so many different areas of this home and I will save those for another day.

If by some crazy chance you haven't seen HGTV's Fixer Upper and you don't know who Chip & Joanna Gaines are, then run to you DVR and set it to tape Tuesday nights at 7:00 pm CST.

All images are from HGTV.com and the house can be viewed in it's entirety here.

Favorite Pins Friday- Spring Kitchen

This week has been full of beautiful spring weather. The sun is shining, the robins are out and we had our first spring rain shower this evening.
With Spring in the air, I am starting to freshen up my home for the new season.

Here are a few of my favorite items that I have pinned this week.

I love these beautiful measuring cups. They are even prettier in person.
I just picked these up today.

Here's another item that I have already purchased. I collect birds, since they remind
me of my grandfather and I couldn't pass these sweet measuring spoons up.
They go beautifully with the above measuring cups and they were only $4.99!

I think this indoor mat is adorable. I plan on purchasing at least one up, but maybe two. These colors go really well with the colors that I have been working
 into my kitchen for spring.

The last item is one that I can not wait to receive. I finally took the plunge and purchased a Ninja blender.        I couldn't help myself when I found it in Aquamarine.

I hope that the beautiful spring weather is making it's way to your hometown. I plan opening the windows this weekend and giving the house a good spring cleaning.
I love this time of year!

Have a lovely weekend!

Favorite Pins Friday- Future Farmhouse Edition

TGIF- Where did this week go? Don't get me wrong, I am glad the weekend is almost here.

As I had mentioned in a previous post my husband and I have decided that we want to make our future Farmhouse a real priority this year. We want to start the initial planning and start working on simple projects.

This week my favorite pins are all centered around our future house.

I really like the color palette that was used on this cute little house. I also love the wooden screen door. Our Farmhouse has to have a screen door.

Another item on my Farmhouse wish list is a fireplace. I love the beautiful rock used on this one and the wooden planked ceiling and beams aren't too shabby either. However, this is a little more rustic than I would like, but my husband really likes this look.

Another very important part of our future home will be our Dining Room. Our current home does not have a dining room and my husband and I both really enjoy having family gatherings.

Probably one of the highest priorities will be more than one bathroom. I would like at least two, but if there is any way to squeeze in three, I would love it. This particular design is much more to my liking. I really enjoy the mix of the modern vessel sinks and the reclaimed wood. It's a perfect combination of Modern and Country.

In the next few months we plan on contacting a few families in our community who have built similar homes to those metal buildings that we have been interested. I will keep you posted on how those visits go.

Have a great weekend!

This weeks favorite pins are all items that I am seriously contemplating working into my current decor.

I already own one hand painted sign from Tara Lowry at Between You & Me and I can't wait to add this one to my living room wall. I have shared this pin before, but it's still a favorite. Our little house is modest coming in at around 900 square feet, so needless to say this sign fits us well.

The next item is one that I plan on purchasing over the weekend. I really need a new nightstand and I love that this one has a shelf to keep my Bible, Journal and other books on as well as a drawer to store items so that the top of the night stand can stay nice and clean. Another great part of this design is the weathered grey wood, which is one of my favorite styles.

The last pins for this week are from Target's Threshold line. I love their quilts and have one in our master bedroom and now I am thinking about purchasing this set for my oldest daughters room.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Ours will be busy celebrating our oldest daughter's 10th birthday.

Favorite Pins Friday- Living Room Update

Happy Friday! I am so thankful that the weekend is almost here. This has been a crazy week and my housekeeping has defiantly fallen by the wayside. Right now my house is a wreck...dishes piled up in the sink, laundry everywhere and toys scattered all over the floor. I'm just keeping it real folks.

Today we are going to do Favorite Pins Friday a little differently. Just a few short days ago, my house wasn't a disaster zone and I took a few quick pictures of some of the new accessories that I have recently purchased to give our living room a quick update.  Here's a look at my living room. Some of the changes have included new pillows, a new metal Ampersand sign, and a few previous Favorite Pins Friday items.

Over all, I am pretty happy with the way things have turned out. I still plan on adding a few new items here and there, but for now I like where the design is going.

Thanks for stopping by!

Favorite Pins Friday- A Day Late

Yesterday got away from me before I could get my favorite pins posted. My husband and I celebrated Valentines a day early and spent the day in the City. We went to all my favorite stores like Target, Anthro, HomeGoods and World Market. After shopping for most of the afternoon we had worked up an appetite and headed out for a steak.
We had a wonderful day!

Here are my favorite pins of the week.

I received this candle for Valentines and I love it. The scent is very comparable to the infamous Antrho candle, but half the price. I love the light pink hobnail glass that houses the candle. I plan on keeping the the glass jar once the candle portion is gone.

The next pin is a beautiful bouquet of flowers. I love the soft color combination.
They are stunning!

I am so ready for spring! I can hardly wait. This outfit is perfect for spring.

The last pin is beauty related and one I plan on trying soon,
since I am almost out of my face wash.

I hope you all have a lovely Valentines Day and wonderful weekend!

Favorite Pins Friday

Hey Guys! I hope you are all having a fantastic week. This weeks Favorite Pins Friday is going back to my heart and wanting to open my home to family and friends. The other day I was reading the story of when Jesus came to visit Mary and Martha and I was wondering how to find a balance between both of those woman. I don't want to get so caught up in preparations and plans that I forget to stop and enjoy the people who are in my life.

Just a couple days after reading the story, I came across a company owned by DaySpring called "Mary & Martha". My interest was totally peaked. They have some really beautiful home decor pieces that are scripture based. Here are a few of my favorites.

My favorite color combination has to Teal and Yellow. I just love it. These dishes are beautiful and fun at the same time.

The next item that I really loved was this sweet little honey jar. I have been looking for one of these for a little while now and I think this is just perfect!

In our house you can never have too many spoons. We are constantly going through them, but to me this one would be reserved for coffee.

This next item is one that I must get. I utter this prayer every morning and although it's words are simple, they are powerful.  I can already see this in my kitchen!

I think all of these pieces would be perfect additions to my kitchen and would be casual pieces that I could use in entertaining.

Don't forget to check out my Pinterest Page to see all my other recent pins.

Have a lovely weekend!

Favorite Pins Friday- DIY Projects Edition

This week many of my favorite Pins were all DIY related projects. I think it's the fact that spring is quickly approaching and I am dreaming of projects that I can work on outside.

Here a few projects that I am defiantly considering.

The first is a beautiful refinished dresser makeover by Debbie at Refresh Restyle. I wish that I could find a dresser similar to this to use in my Living Room for extra storage. I love the combination of paint and stain on this piece. It's just beautiful!

The next pin is a really neat idea that uses a pallet. What a cool inexpensive console table.

Recently, I have really been thinking of ways that I could bring the outdoors into my home and this plant stand is the perfect idea!

Hopefully, the weather will warm up soon and I can spend a day in the sun working on these DIY projects. Until, then...I'll just  have to keep "Pining" away.

Have a lovely weekend!
