Hello, I’m Rachel.
Welcome to {Meadowlark Prairie} a journal of stories of my
family, my love for farmhouse decorating, sweet vintage finds, furniture
makeovers, crafting and best of all our eventual journey out to our family’s farm.
I am a Kansas girl, a wife to Daniel and a mommy of two
sweet girls, Grace Abigail and Sophia Michael. My family and I currently reside
in a small town, but we dream of the day that we will live on my husband’s
family farm.
I am one of the lucky people who love’s their job. I work in
Marketing and I adore it, because it allows me to use my creativity every
single day. I believe Steve Jobs said it
best,
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your
life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great
work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t
found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart,
you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets
better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it.
Don’t settle.”
I describe my style of home decorating as Modern
Country, with a good mix of modern and vintage pieces. I love visiting our
local antique stores and flea markets, and I am always looking for that certain
piece that will add warmth to my home. I love chalk paint, barn wood, stainless
steel, mercury glass and fine fabrics.
One day, in the not so distant future, my husband and I will set
out on a huge journey for our little family, building our own farmhouse on land
that has been in his family for many years. I look forward to day when I can
set out on our porch and drink my morning latte overlooking the pond. My heart
aches for the family dinners that will be prepared in our farmhouse kitchen and
all the wonderful memories and the life we will create in that home.
In the meantime though, we will continue to live in our modest home,
which has provided a roof over our heads, kept my babies warm on cold nights
and the house that is filled with love and has made our house a home.
